You've Got the
Nerve
by Jeffrey

There's a light in the sky. See it with your eye.
There's
a wave coming near. Hear it with your ear.
There's
a scent from a rose . Smell it with your nose.
A
juicy red plumb. Taste it with your tongue.
A
touch from a friend. Feel it with your skin.
These
are 5 senses of your nervous system.
When the outside world comes to us
it
can cause a stimulus.
Then
you react. It don't take long.
for
your body to respond.
chorus:
You've
got the nerve, You've got the nerve, You've got the nerve
to
use your sense. It's part of your experience.
You've
got the nerve, You've got the nerve, You've got the nerve
Perceive
the world that you live in, using your nervous system.
It was hot. I feel pain
A
nerve impulse was sent to the brain.
The
brain decided to react.
Time
to pull my right arm back.
Not
fast enough though it seems,
judging
from the shrills and screams.
I
touched the stove. Am I insane?
I
don't think I'll do that again.
repeat chorus
A nerve is like a wire leading to special gaps.
For
the nerve to fire it must cross the synapse.
Then
to the spinal chord and up to the brain.
The
message is processed then sent back down again
